So, how is married life?
Married life is great!

The comic says "By: Stephen and Heather Gygi," but who exactly does what?

1) Heather writes the comics.
* She thinks of an idea, draws it out, and shows Stephen.

2) Stephen draws the comics.
* He takes the rough idea, and draws a nice copy.

3) Heather edits the comics.
* She scans the final drawings and puts them on the computer.
* Then she adds boxes for the comic frames and centers the figures.
* Next she does some computer touch-ups and adds words.
*Then she colors the comics.

The characters are named Stephen and Heather, so are the characters based off the authors?
No, they aren't based off the authors, we're really not that funny in real life. The reason they're named "Stephen and Heather" is because we couldn't figure out any names we both liked, so as default, we just used our own names. Hopefully we'll be better at picking names by the time we have kids.

How did How's Married Life? get started?
I (Stephen) have loved drawing all my life, though I'd just do doodles in notebooks and things, nothing serious. As for Heather though, she had never been interested in comics outside of reading them in the Sunday paper.
In one of Heather's marriage classes they were talking about how it's not only important to help your own talents grow, but to also support and help your spouses talents grow. She took that lecture very seriously and helped me focus my drawing talents into something noteworthy. She helped me write catchy story lines, edited my drawings on the computer, made a website, etc, and now here we are today. She really is the mastermind behind this whole thing and there wouldn't be a comic without her. I will probably never be able to repay my wife, but I guess that's how marriage works.

What are your plans for HML in the future?
My dream for our comic would be for it to get syndicated.
Heather's dream is to get our comic in the Washington Post.
Oh, and for some reason she really wants to make a day-by-day calender with our comics on each page. Something like this:
